The one with my City Hall Poem

Some of you may or may not have noticed that I don't write about my job at Magic Kingdom Guest Relations. I'm not sure why that is but it may be in part that it's so hard to explain what exactly we do there. After about 9 months of being on a Temporary Assignment to Magic Kingdom Guest Relations, I was chosen to be statused and now call MKGR my home. Not too long ago, I was home in Minnesota and thinking about a world that seemed so far away at the time, that world being Disney World. If you've known me for a while, you know that I tend to write poems about many random things. So while I was in Minnesota, I jotted down a little poem about my work place. When I returned to Florida, I printed it without my name on it and posted it in our little break room. I pointed it out to my friend Lori-Ann who brought it to the attention of our area leader who then brought it to the attention of the VP of MK, the one and only Phil! While I am blushing at the thought of Phil reading my little ditty, I also think it's kinda neat that he took the time to do so. I realize it is more meaningful if you know just how true it all is, but hopefully you like it, even if you have no clue what I'm talking about! =)  So without further ado, here it is!

City Hall

By: Allie Bentrud

“Welcome to City Hall!” is something we all say

With a smile on our face, every day is a MAGICAL day!

What kind of assistance do you need?

Is asked by us a lot INDEED!

What did it look like? Can you describe the lost item?

Ok, give me a moment while I go try to find’em!

Cinderella’s Royal Table books far in advance,

But sure, I’d be happy to check, there is still a chance!

We study Disney trivia just in case a guest might ask

We clean and create magical moments on a CDS task

Disney Dollars come in Ones, Fives and Tens

I’m sure they’ll make a new design, just not sure when!

A favorite guest are those who ask to see the pin book,

We get to smile and do nothing as they look and look.

A trip to the tip board can brighten our day,

We might see a parade or give Fastpasses away!

Being greeter requires us to direct guests with a smile and a wave

But be warned, the smell of fresh popcorn will make you crave!

In a perfect world there would be no need for complaints,

So here at Disney World we listen, apologize, solve and say thanks!

Going above and beyond is what we do for every Guest,

Even if they don’t seem to appreciate it, we do it no less.

But most will say thank you for restoring the pixie dust,

Because that’s all you need along with a little faith and trust!

We may not be characters in a Disney movie or Heroes at all,

But we are the everyday magic workers of Magic Kingdom’s City Hall.
